Live VJ visuals for Bed By 10, a touring daytime club event for over-30s.

In 2023, the team at Like It Love It brought me in to build a 15-minute looping visual set for Bed By 10PM, a club night touring the UK, Europe and Australia built around a simple concept; daytime clubbing for people with somewhere to be the next morning. The brief called for a dreamy, ravey visual language in sky blue and white, built around the event’s own logo, with a nostalgic feel running through it.
Sleeping ZZZZ signs, spinning clocks and drifting clouds carried the visual language, alongside a floating TV asset the VJ could overlay with nostalgic footage live, and floating feathers and pillows simulated as particles to keep everything soft rather than heavy. The cloud work ran through Stable Diffusion and Deforum rather than 3D volumetrics: the AI-driven movement read as more genuinely dreamy than anything rendered, finished with chromatic aberration and grain to push it further. Whites stayed sparing throughout: full white backgrounds don’t survive a daylight projection, so white only showed up in smaller elements: clocks, logos, the odd cloud.
The brief also called for a rigged 2D dancing clock character, well outside my comfort zone. The client supplied an Illustrator file, but the pose had no usable limbs to rig from, so the body was rebuilt from scratch to get it moving. The dance ended up being one of the most-shared parts of the night. It started turning up in fans’ own Instagram reels, copied on the dancefloor.
