Live VJ visuals for Nissi, Afro-fusion artist

In 2023, creative director Ronami Ogulu (Onaspaceship) brought me in to build a 15-minute looping backdrop for Nissi’s live shows — having worked together the year before on her brother Burna Boy’s Space Drift Tour. The brief called for a bold, graffiti-style treatment of her name, with puzzle pieces and animated jigsaws woven through it, aiming for something as high-energy and vibrant as her Afrobeats sound.
Graffiti lettering wasn’t a skill I had, so I brought in tattoo artist Yeti to design the bold NISSI wordmark, then built the rest around it — melting, psychedelic patterns framing the screen to pull the eye to the centre, puzzle pieces and animated jigsaws threaded through per the brief, and flames licked in behind the logo as a quiet nod to her brother. Built as a single 15-minute loop, coloured as vibrant and loud as the Afrobeats sound behind it.
